According to Korean senior business expert Bolam Yi (이보람) of Third Age Inc., three global senior trends stand out: the tech-enabled redesign of care, a shift toward preventive health and longevity, and the rise of age-tech. Drawing on her four-country network (Korea, Japan, China, Singapore), she frames Korea’s senior wellness model as an exportable “K-Senior.”
1. The Redesign of Care
Demand for care is surging while the workforce shrinks. Countries are shifting care from something people shoulder entirely to a model where technology and people share the load.
2. Toward Preventive Health
The focus is moving from treatment to prevention — narrowing the gap between life expectancy and healthy lifespan, and delaying the stage of life that requires care. Diet, exercise, emotional health, and social connection all fall under prevention.
3. The Rise of Age-Tech
Age-tech treats seniors as users, not merely recipients, of technology. AI and digital tools that expand seniors’ work, health, and relationships form the fastest-growing frontier of the senior industry.
